چکیده

Plasma content and distribution are key parameters in the dynamics of inner magnetosphere. The plasmasphere contributes, for most part, to plasma mass density, its properties very dependent on history magnetosphere geomagnetic activity. In this work, we investigated plasmasphere–ionosphere coupling, focusing refilling process that followed storm occurred 1 June 2013. equatorial density used evaluate rates was remotely sensed by observation field line resonance (FLR) frequencies field, driven ultra-low-frequency magnetic waves. FLR were retrieved performing an analysis signals detected several station pairs European quasi-Meridional Magnetometer Array. We estimated rate at which occurred, concentrating both diurnal day-to-day rates. contraction during main phase higher than ∼3.5 REd−1, while average expansion ∼0.4 REd−1. radial dependence rates, using a novel approach based fit profiles, related their variation boundary layer zero-energy Alfvén boundary. found evidence supporting idea flux tubes mapping region between these two boundaries experience enhanced process.

Global response of the plasmasphere to a geomagnetic disturbance

[1] Global images of the plasmasphere obtained by the Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) imager on the IMAGE satellite are used to study the evolving structure of the plasmasphere during two geomagnetic disturbances. By tracking the location of the plasmapause as a function of L shell and magnetic local time, quantitative measurements of radial and azimuthal motions of the boundary are made for interval...

Geomagnetic storm effects on GPS based navigation

The energetic events on the sun, solar wind and subsequent effects on the Earth’s geomagnetic field and upper atmosphere (ionosphere) comprise space weather. Modern navigation systems that use radio-wave signals, reflecting from or propagating through the ionosphere as a means of determining range or distance, are vulnerable to a variety of effects that can degrade the performance of the naviga...

Monitoring of Dust Storm in the Midwest of Iran Case Study: Dust Storm June 16-19, 2015

This research was conducted to identify the dust storms in the Midwest of Iran from June 16 to 19, 2015. To investigate the synoptic conditions of the causes of this phenomenon, the ECMWF has an array of 0.125 degrees, including geopotential, omega, and sea level pressure, orbital and meridian components of the wind, specific humidity Soil moisture was applied to a depth of 10 cm. Similarly, fo...
